On April 18 and 21, select theaters will run the new live performance film Chicago & Friends in Concert. Coming from Iconic Events Releasing, Mercury Studios, and FanTracks, the impending theatrical experience draws on legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Chicago by unleashing the depths of their in-person music experience, with featured guests and impromptu moments that solidify their ranks in rock history.

Drawing on their legacy, which includes more than 100 million albums sold on a global scale, Chicago’s big-screen moment was recorded in November 2023 at Ovation Hall at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The show amassed a crowd of 10,000 over two nights and featured guest appearances from Robin Thicke, Chris Daughtry,  Steve Vai, VoicePlay, Judith Hill, Robert Randolph and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.

Each of the aforementioned appearances accentuates the superlative energy of Chicago’s showmanship while delivering classic, fab favorite material. Specifically, during the Atlantic City, N.J., shows, the band celebrated the 55th anniversary of their double-platinum debut set, Chicago Transit Authority. Also included in the film adaptation are unplugged a cappella arrangements of re-imagined Chicago hits, representing emotional centerpieces of the experience.

The executive producer of Chicago & Friends in Concert, Barry Summers, worked with Lee Loughnane to thoughtfully pull song selections with consideration of guests in order to exemplify the presentation. Loughnane also served as music director and managed the post-production audio mix. “This concert film is a unique approach to any of our previous live performances,” said Chicago founding member, Loughnane. “We very rarely play with guest artists, much less seven of them. It was very interesting to work with each guest and experience their interpretations of our music.”
