The String Cheese Incident have announced the revival of its beloved “Friday Night Cheese” livestream series. Initially launched in March 2020 as a way for fans to experience the jam sextet’s thrilling live performances during the height of the pandemic, the project has become a hallmark of the its community engagement and returns again this winter to tide over audiences during the group’s brief break from touring. The first dispatch from this new series will be the band’s memorable performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo. on September 6, 2003, set to air for free on nugs.net and YouTube today, January 26, at 8 p.m. ET.

Recounting the context for this gem from the vaults, the String Cheese Incident has written that “This Incident was the record release party for the Untying The Not album and features some first-ever versions of new songs from the 2003 record. The show featured a special encore where we were joined by our friends in STS9, plus a super-rare acoustic encore played on top of the front-of-house mix position.” This historic gig in the band’s home state saw debuts of “Tinder Box” and “Who Am I?,” two cuts from its fan-favorite sixth studio album now established as live standards, as well as support from Jeffree Lerner, Zach Velmer, Hunter Brown and David Phipps of STS9 for an encore of “Drums” and “Jam.” Further entries in this series will be released monthly, building to the band’s eagerly anticipated return to the road.

This announcement follows a particularly exciting year for the String Cheese Incident, which celebrated its 30th anniversary with a three-night New Year’s run and a recently announced spring tour. The band’s next trek will begin on April 6 with a set at Texas Eclipse in Burnet, Texas, and feature nine further engagements, including headliner performances at Solshine Reverie, CaveJam and Electric Forest.
