Last night, Dogstar made a vibrant appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, showcasing their latest single, “Blonde.” The ensemble, featuring the multi-talented Keanu Reeves, who handles the bass in the band, delivered a dynamic rendition of the anthemic track, surrounded by the glow of festive holiday lights.

The melodic piece is part of the alt-rock group’s recently released third album, titled Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, which made its debut in October. The contemplative nature of the song unfolds as guitarist and vocalist Bret Domrose expresses poignant reflections on solitude backed by the alt inclinations of the band.

Dogstar’s origins trace back to 1991 when drummer Robert Mailhouse, known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and a brief appearance on Seinfeld, struck up a friendship with Reeves in a supermarket. Later, Reeves and Mailhouse shared the screen in Speed, and Dogstar contributed to the soundtracks of Me and Will (1999) and Ellie Parker (2005). Other releases include an EP in 1996, their debut album Our Little Visionary Zoo, and 2000’s Happy Ending.

Notably, Dogstar hinted at their comeback last summer, teasing fans on Instagram in July 2022 with a concise yet impactful message: “We’re back.” The official announcement of their reunion came in May, marked by their first live performance in over two decades at the BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley. Following their return, the band embarked on a fall tour and additional dates slated for the upcoming month.
