Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein will debut a new project, the Brownstein Family Band in early 2024. The group’s first show will take place at Burlington, VT’s Nectar’s on January 20. In addition to the bassist, the outfit will feature Brownie’s son Zach Brownstein on drums and Eggy’s Jake Brownstein–who is not related to the rhythm section but has recently opened for the Biscuits–on guitar. In a post, the elder Brownstein said, “This is one of the most exciting announcements I’ve ever gotten to make!” This will be Brownie’s first full-set performance with his oldest son, who is currently enrolled at the University of Vermont.

Brownie will also embark on his inaugural DJ tour later this year. Those dates will kick off at Miami, FL’s Zey Zey on December 1 and come to a close at Worcester, MA’s Electric Haze on December 23. Along the way, DJ Brownie will make stops at Philadelphia’s Brooklyn Bowl (12/15), Baltimore, MD’s The 8×10 (12/16), Richmond, VA’s The Broadberry (12/17), Buffalo, NY’s Buffalo Iron Works (12/20), Syracuse, NY’s The Westcott Theater (12/21) and Brooklyn, NY’s The Sultan Room (12/22.) Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig will also DJ at the Baltimore show.
