Today, Mikaela Davis delivered a new covers EP, dubbed Our Creepy Eep Hour via Kill Rock Star. The set of music pulls in the three-track combo suite off Jerry Garcia’s self-titled solo release, including “Late for Supper,” “Spidergawd,” and “Eep Hour.” The release marks the first time these songs have been covered and released via streaming services.

The covers come after the harpist has shared the stage with Garcia’s Grateful Dead bandmates, Bobby Weir and Phil Lesh, respectively, continuing her appreciation for their beloved musical archives, both independent and collective, which have long attracted musicians’ that are interested improvisation.

“Earlier this year, we had a residency, where along with originals, we performed a different selection of Grateful Dead songs each week. This suite of instrumentals is from the final night of our residency, 5.19.2, at Parish Public House in Albany, N.Y., where we performed Garcia in its entirety. Please enjoy Our Creepy Eep Hour,” offered Davis via press release.

Melding elements of psychedelia and experimentation, Davis and her band, Alex Coté (drums), Cian McCarthy (guitars/vocals), Shane McCarthy (bass/vocals), and Kurt Johnson (steel guitar), revived the trio of obscure Garcia cuts, which were initially presented as a 10-minute suite, “Late for Supper/ Spidergawd/ Eep Hour,” and broken into three parts on Davis’ delivery.
