Today, the Grateful Dead released the 31st edition of the annual Grateful Dead Almanac, a cherished tradition for Dead Heads worldwide, which delves into the band’s ever-evolving ecosystem while attuning to the common era. The Almanac covers a range of topics, including Dead World Round-Up, Dead & Company, Jerry Garcia, Bobby Weir, Phil Lesh, Billy Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, and Friends & Relations.

Jesse Jarnow and Gary Lambert, two respected figures in the Grateful Dead community, captured the essence of the band’s lasting flame, stating, “As the music continues to sail towards the next horizon in real-time, it also continues to provide new ways to reflect on the magic trick of how the Dead managed to create music that is both traditional and wide-open.”

The 2023 edition of the Almanac provides a window into the Grateful Dead’s thriving ecosystem, which experienced an incredible 2023. From the release of the Here Comes Sunshine box set to the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Wake Of The Flood, it offers insights into the latest endeavors inspired by the band, including Playing In The Band’s interactive mixing board, Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast‘s latest seasons, not to mention Dead & Company’s Final Tour.

The Almanac also delves into the band’s history, featuring old tales and current updates on band members, family, and friends. Another remarkable aspect that sets the Grateful Dead apart is their dedication to serving their fans comprehensively and consistently. The Almanac serves as a testament to this ongoing commitment.

The publication also provides initial details on the forthcoming Dave’s Picks Volume 49 and a teaser for the mind-blowing Volume 50. The beloved Dave’s Picks series, now in its 13th year, has steadily grown to 25,000 units of each volume. Its mission to deliver top-grade Grateful Dead shows, meticulously remastered and beautifully packaged, released four times a year, continues to be a running success.

David Lemieux, Grateful Dead Legacy Manager, Audio Archivist, and Dave’s Picks curator, acknowledged the band’s enduring vision in a press release, saying, “This is a testament to Rhino never veering off the path of its vision to treat Dead Heads with respect and caring.”
