Last night, Oct. 25, a mass shooting occurred at two locations in Lewiston, Maine, resulting in the tragic deaths of 18 individuals and injuring 13. As a result, The Disco Biscuits have postponed tonight’s concert, which was slated to take place at the State Theatre in Portland.
In a post shared by the band via social media, they wrote, “Sitting here on our bus, sad and in disbelief. We found out about the events in Maine right after the show in Hartford last night, and our hearts absolutely sank for the entire community.”
“Out of respect for those who lost their lives, their families and friends, and everyone in the Maine community who are no doubt reeling from these events, we will be canceling tonight’s show at the State Theatre,” the band continued.
“We’re already looking at options to return to Portland in the near future, but for now, we will continue on to Port Chester for our shows this weekend,” they added. “Refunds for tonight’s canceled show can be obtained at your point of purchase, or you may hold onto your ticket, which will be valid at the rescheduled date to be announced.”
In conclusion of their statement, the band sent well-wishes to the affected community, writing, “We love you Maine, you are in our hearts and we hope to be back soon. Stay safe, everyone.” Despite tonight’s cancelation, The Disco Biscuits will take tonight off before resuming their run over two nights at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y.
