On Sunday, October 8, the Grateful Guitars Foundation celebrated the Jay Lane Music Rooms opening at Blue Bear’s brand-new Mission Bay campus in San Francisco, near Oracle Park. The new space will serve as an area for music lessons in keyboards, guitars, DJ-ing, and voice for all ages, including the popular Little Bears programs for toddlers.

Jay Lane Music Rooms results from the acclaimed drummer’s roots with Blue Bear, considered the original school of rock, after establishing its footing in 1971. Lane began attending the center at age 13, working with director Steve Salvage, who took him from an outstanding player to an even better one with time and practice, and ultimately leading to the namesake space for future artists.

A nonprofit organization, Grateful Guitars Foundation, functions as an entity to serve the music by providing exquisite instruments to advanced players and supporting music programs that inspire the next generation of performers and music lovers. Their latest endeavor was the aforementioned support of Bay Area staple Blue Bear Music and the extension of opportunities for young players.
