Last night, The Disco Biscuits took to the stage of Chicago’s Riviera Theater. After an opening performance by SunSquabi, The Disco Biscuits launched a night of musical exploration lush with bust-outs and dance-inducing jams that flowed through the evening.
The Disco Biscuits kicked off the evening with a sonic journey of “Above The Waves,” setting the vibe while gradually building the energy. The band then seamlessly transitioned into “Space Train,” which guided the ethereal voyage back to the opening song. “The Bridge” came next, bridging the gap between reality and the surreal before they picked things up with “Rockafella,” which hadn’t been performed in 133 shows. This led to “Tourists (Rocket Ship),” before they closed the frame softly with a dyslexic version of “Caterpillar.”
The second set was equally exciting and began where the previous set left off with “Caterpillar” and inverted “Shelby Rose” followed. “Falling” then descended before they launched into the cosmic odyssey of “Astronaut.” The mesmerizing soundscapes of “Svenghali” came next, warping reality with its inverted melodies. The journey then culminated with a return to “Astronaut.”
For the encore, The Disco Biscuits treated the crowd to “Awol’s Blues,” a rare gem from their repertoire that marked its first appearance in nearly 11 years or 390 shows. See the full setlist via discobiscuits below.
