Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros have announced a performance at Frost Amphitheatre in Stanford, Calif., on Saturday, October 29. The impending gig represents the West Coast premiere of Weir’s current symphony project, which will be played alongside the Stanford Symphony Orchestra in two 75-minute sets. 

The fall show is set to be conducted by the Gretchen B. Kimball Director of Orchestral Studies and Associate Professor of Music at Stanford, Paul Phillips. It will also include regulars Jeff Chimenti, Don Was, and The Wolfpack–strings and horn ensemble–and pedal steel master Barry Sless, all of whom will support the Grateful Dead guitarist at the historic venue.

The orchestral presentation originally debuted with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, followed by three nights with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the Atlanta Symphony Hall. Each night, the ensemble performed an individualized set featuring hits from the expansive Grateful Dead catalog, Weir’s solo albums and more. Stanford Professor and Composer Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti provided original orchestration. 

Prior to Weir’s Frost Amphitheatre return, he and the Wolf Bros will hit the road this September with tour stops in Charlottesville, Va., South Burlington, Vt., Columbus, Ohio, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Furthermore, the group will join Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival 2023 for seven shows. They will also make their debut performance at the legendary Farm Aid in Noblesville, Ind., on Sept. 23.
