Today, Netflix released an exclusive preview of the highly anticipated Scott Pilgrim anime series. Bringing back the beloved cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as voice actors, the animated series–rooted in love, magic and music–is set to debut on Nov. 17.
Named Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the animated project is helmed by director Abel Góngora and boasts Edgar Wright, the visionary filmmaker behind the original Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie, as one of its executive producers. The series stars an ensemble cast including Michael Cera reprising his role as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead again embodying Ramona Flowers, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
The lineup continues to impress as it did back in 2010, with Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim, and Aubrey Plaza lending her voice to Julie Powers. The series is packed with star power, featuring Jason Schwartzman as Gideon Graves, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, and Brie Larson taking on the role of Envy Adams.
One of the distinctive elements that contributed to the original film’s cult status was its iconic soundtrack, and fans will be thrilled to know that the anime series remains faithful to this integral aspect. The unforgettable musical elements that underscored the charm of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World will be artfully woven into the fabric of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
