This week Billy & The Kids will put on two concerts, dubbed Dead on the Water. The shows will occur on August 16 at Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore and Friday, August 18, at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City. Ahead of the performances, the band’s namesake, Bill Kreutzmann, shared two messages with fans and followers via Instagram.

“And exhale,” began Kreutzmann, who fittingly paired his message alongside the first in a series of smokey photos. The original backbeat of the Grateful Dead continued, “It’s so great to be back with these guys, you guys. We’ve been having such a high time just warming up and reuniting at our rehearsal spot. We haven’t even started really playing yet but the good times are instant.”

He added, “The best part is that we’re all smiling and we can’t wait for these shows. It’s all heart and soul with this band,” before concluding his initial post. The musician followed up a couple of hours later, sharing more photos from what can be perceived as the group’s rehearsal, sharing praises for each member, including Tom Hamilton, Aron Magner, Reed Mathis, James Casey, Jeff Franca, and so-called “Honorary Kid,” like Daniel Donato.

Kreutzmann also took time to share thoughts on the latest musician to join the lineup, Sierra Hull. He wrote: “And in New York City on Friday, it’s gonna be a thrill to welcome Sierra Hull to the stage for a sold-out show at Pier 17. I invited Sierra because I just really wanted to hear her voice and mandolin on some of these songs in particular. So it’ll just be such an honest joy for me.”

Tickets for Billy & The Kids’ Baltimore stand remain on sale. The band’s Friday night show in New York City is sold out.
