Famed guitarist Joe Bonamassa turned up at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo., for his annual performance at the celebrated venue. During the one-night sold-out stand on Sunday, Aug. 6, pal Warren Haynes joined his host for some joint stage time, covering Albert King’s version of “I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home Tonight.”

The pair-up came to be after Haynes and his band, Gov’t Mule, were nearby in anticipation of their own stand at the famed outdoor venue on Monday, August 7, as a part of their Dark Side of the Mule 2023 tour. The collaboration arrived halfway through the main frame and served as a fiery peak of the night.

For their joint delivery, Bonamassa and Haynes went with the Al Jackson Jr. and Timothy Matthews penned number, which was recorded in 1971 by Ann Peebles. A year later, in 1972, King taped his take on the number, which was the rendition chosen for Sunday night’s sit-in. Of note, Gov’t Mule has had the cover in their repertoire for over a decade and included it on their 2021 release Heavy Load Blues
