In celebration of one of rock’s greatest musicians, the annual Tom Petty Weekend will return to the late artist’s hometown of Gainesville, Fla., on October 20 through 22, 2023. The occasion, which dates back to 2017, returns this fall with an exciting lineup of talent slated to take the stage and honor the “Free Fallin’” singer during what would be his birthday weekend.

Shovels and Rope, Jake Thistle, Jeff Slate, and Shine and The Shakers top the artist lineup. The three-day coming together, hosted by the official Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Fan Club, Tom Petty Nation, and the Heartwood Soundstage, also boasts appearances from Joe Crookston, Daniel Champagne, Sue Ballingall, Bruce Katz Band, and more.

In addition to musical talent, the event also features authors, friends, and former bandmates, as well as a guided tour of the new exhibit at the Cade Museum. The aforementioned gallery will run until Dec. 31, 2023, and offers visitors a chance to experience the making of Petty’s hit 1994 release, Wildflowers, through the lens of the artists.
