Denver’s renowned funk and soul ensemble, The Motet, have set announced the newest addition to their ranks – lead singer Sarah Clarke. Known for her commanding vocals, impressive range, and dynamic stage presence, Clarke brings her exceptional talents to the group as they gear up for a thrilling 28-city U.S. tour set for this fall.

Hailing from Portland, Ore., Clarke is already well known for her captivating performances and remarkable songwriting abilities. She has toured across North America and fronted bands such as Dirty Revival and the soulful psych-rock group Con Brio. Recently, audiences may have already experienced her powerful vocals during her performances at Red Rocks and while singing with Portugal. The Man. Clarke has also made her mark in the local Portland music scene, collaborating with funk unit Outer Orbit, which boasts members from acclaimed bands like Ghost Note, Allen Stone, Gino Vannelli, and others.

As a full-time member of The Motet, Clarke is poised to take the band’s music to thrilling new heights. The Motet’s founder and drummer, Dave Watts, expressed the band’s exhilaration at having Clarke on board, praising her as “the most creative and collaborative singer we have ever worked with.” He further commended her infectious energy and excitement on stage, revealing that Clarke’s presence has inspired the band to elevate their performances to unprecedented levels.

For Clarke, joining The Motet is a dream come true; reflecting on her admiration for the band, Clarke shared, “The Motet has been one of my favorite bands since I started performing. Being given an opportunity to perform with them has been a little surreal, honestly.” Having previously opened for The Motet with her former band, Dirty Revival, Clarke was always left in awe of the band’s exceptional musicianship and artistry, both as a unified group and as individual talents.

Clarke’s musical prowess has been hailed as a perfect fit for The Motet, pushing her to deliver pristine vocal performances every night alongside the band’s skillful playing. Beyond their musical camaraderie, the members have formed a strong interpersonal bond, adding to the pleasure of collaborating on stage.

The Motet’s lineup, now featuring Clarke on vocals, includes Watts on drums, Joey Porter on keys, Garrett Sayers on bass, Ryan Jalbert on guitar, and Drew Sayers on keys and saxophone. The band members are excited as they prepare to embark on their highly anticipated 28-city tour, which will see jams and cuts from their 10th studio album All Day which was released in January of this year.
