Mitski has announced a new album titled The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We. The artist also shared that she will preview the impending set on Wednesday, July 26, with the initial unnamed single. The update dropped via Mitski’s official newsletter, which took shape as a voice memo, later broadcasted across her social media platforms. 

In the video message, the musicians spoke directly to the camera. She unveiled small details about the collection, such as the name of the LP and the location of the studio where it was tracked. The “Washing Machine Heart” singer said, “Hi, this is Mitski, and I’m at Bomb Shelter Studios in Nashville, where we recorded my new album that’s coming out. It’s called The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We and its first single is coming out on Wednesday.”

Mitski’s last release of new music was Laurel Hell in 2022. The album topped multiple Billboard charts, including Top Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums. It also reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We will be the artist’s seventh album.
