On Aug. 5, the 21st annual Jerry Day will occur in San Francisco. The impending event lands during the Days Between–the period linking the musician’s birthday, Aug. 1, and death date, Aug. 9–and will take place in McLaren Park at the artist’s namesake amphitheater.

Jerry Day is a civic and cultural event celebrating one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time and San Francisco native and founding member of the Grateful Dead. The event aims to unite the diverse communities of the Bay Area through the sound and spirit of Garcia’s music, with a specific emphasis on the Excelsior District of San Francisco, where the musician spent his early years and planted his roots.

The yearly affair will include live music performances courtesy of Melvin Seals & JGB, Box Set, and Stu Allen & Mars Hotel. In addition, a Jerry Day After-Party and Pub Crawl will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 5, featuring live music at multiple venues centered around the Excelsior District.

In addition to the Aug. 5 celebrations, the folks behind the annual event will host a Garcia Tribute Night presented by the Oakland A’s and Jerry Garcia Family on Aug. 18. More information will be available closer to the start date. For more information, visit www.jerryday.org
