Last night, Phish took the stage at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pa., lifting the shroud left by the storm that cut their performance in North Carolina short after four songs into their second set two days prior.
The first set kicked off with “Party Time,” setting a festive vibe for the evening. Following the opening jam, as the sun set, they kept the energy as the sun set, and Chris Kuroda went to work, with the band moving into renditions of “AC/DC Bag” and “46 Days.” Next came “Birds of a Feather” and “Bouncing Around the Room,” added to the lively atmosphere before the band launched into the intricate and improvisational “Stash.” The set continued with “Leaves,” “Maze,” which included a tease of “San-Ho-Zay” and a frame closing, “Scents and Subtle Sounds,” effectively concluding the song that went unfinished in Wilmington.
After a short break, Phish returned for the second set, beginning with “Sigma Oasis.” The fans were then treated to a dynamic and exploratory journey through “The Final Hurrah,” which led to Phish’s debut of “Pillow Jets,” which was previously known as “On Pillow Jets” when it debuted by Trey Anastasio Trio a month earlier. The band then transitioned into the classic “David Bowie,” which had a higher tempo than its usual renditions and included the first tease of “Eleanor Rigby.” Next came “Cities” > “Feugo,” which found its way into a beautiful “Ruby Waves,” which also saw a tease of “Eleanor Rigby” and brought the set to a close.
For the encore, Phish returned to the stage for a powerful rendition of “Character Zero” before they closed the night with “Slave to the Traffic Light.”
