Last night, Bob Dylan played yet another classic Grateful Dead song on his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. The cover was performed on Tuesday, June 28, at the Arena du Pays d’Aix in Aix-en-Provence, France. This time around, he covered “West L.A. Fadeaway,” a tune that hasn’t graced his setlist since November 1999.

As of late, Dylan has played several songs from the Dead’s repertoire, which commenced during the Japanese leg of his tour. Most recently, Dylan debuted “Stella Blue” in Barcelona on June 23. The artist also integrated parts of “Brokedown Palace” into his live catalog, ultimately offering a complete delivery on April 18 during a show in Nagoya, Japan. “Truckin’” has also received stage time during two shows on April 12 and April 20.

“West L.A. Fadeaway” appeared during the latter half of Tuesday’s main frame, following a few Dylan classics and other tunes from the tour’s namesake LP, Rough and Rowdy Ways. It was the only cover he played throughout the night. During the run-through of the Robert Hunter-penned song, Dylan took to the baby grand piano for the delivery.

He first debuted the song in Perth, Australia, on March 18, 1992, and has played it 11 times since. One of the most notable performances included bassist Phil Lesh as a special guest in New Haven, Conn., on Nov. 10, 1999. Dylan also performed the song as an addition during The Other Ones and The Dead tour, during their Darien Lake Performing Arts Center concert in Western N.Y., on Aug. 8, 2003.

After last night’s memorable bust out, Dylan will take part in a double hitter in Lyon, France, followed by a one-night stand in Switzerland, then he settles in Italy for five more shows to finish the nearly three-year-long run.
