The New York City edition of the Re:Set concert series arrived at Forest Hills Stadium on Friday, June 16. The genre-explorative event boasted appearances from IDLES, L’Rain, Jamie xx, and headliners LCD Soundsystem. The latter brought out a handful of additional players during their set to fill in on bass and guitar, given the absence of Tyler Pope, who was sick and unable to make it to the event.

After a frame from Jamie xx, it was LCD Soundsystem’s turn to take the stage. Led by James Murphy, who donned a get-up reminiscent of David Byrne, the group of eight-plus players ripped into their 90-minute set of music, which began with “Get Innocuous!” followed by “I Can Change.” With the addition of “Tribulations,” Murphy addressed the audience, acknowledging the positive energy radiating from the crowd.

A high point occurred during the transition from “Someone Great” to “Losing My Edge.” The latter featured synth loops from “Robot Rock” and “Situation,” and the bandleader mentioned Daft Punk and Yaz. Later, LCD’s road crew members ascended on stage, filling in for Pope. IDLES, Adam “Dev” Devonshire helped out during a cover of Joy Division’s “No Love Lost” before the crowd joined in during an ensuing “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down.”

The favored group of musicians closed out their time at Forest Hills with a fitting “Dance Yrself Clean,” inciting an out-dance party in the crowd before landing on “All My Friends” to conclude their set. The group followed up in the days which followed, taking part in Re: Set performances in Columbia, Md., Nashville, Tenn., and Columbus, Ohio. The band will continue their schedule with an appearance tonight in Chicago at 8:15 p.m. local time.
