Last night, the Disco Biscuits closed out their Icelandic Trance Atlantic event, effectively performing their seventh set over three days (six sets of original non-stop music, 1 VIP set, plus a special “Taste in Music” SPAGA set featuring Aron Magner, Jason Fraticelli, and Matt Scarano) at the iconic Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. During their performances on May 20, 21 and 22, the group dished out an array of jamtronica favorites while highlighting the incredible musical inclinations of Cloudchord, Dogs In A Pile and Karina Rykman, who opened for them, respectively, on each day during which sunlight stretched past 10 p.m.

For the debut performance Trance Atlantic destination event–following Cloudchord–the Disco Biscuits dished out “Magellan” before a run of “Freeze” > “Who’s in Charge” > “Bombs” > an inverted “Shelby Rose” followed by “Floes.” The second set was comprised of two dance-inspiring runs, the first starting with “Park Ave” and included the first inverted version of “Another Plan of Attack,” “The Great Abyss,” and the perfume version of “Pilin’ It High.” The frame was rounded out with a groove of “House Dog Party Favor” into “Orch Theme” and back into “House Dog Party Favor.” They encored with “Bernstein and Chasnoff.”

After less than five hours of darkness, the sun rose again over Iceland, shining light on a day that would include an opening performance by Dogs In A Pile. The nearly seamless transition from day to day matched the jams that would follow. Disco Biscuits opened the day with “Mr. Don” before a jam of “Voices Insane,” which contained a new song titled “Falling,” a new song from the group’s new musical The Very Moon, which is an adaptation of the group’s 1998 rock opera The Hot Air Balloon. They continued with another electrified groove of “Space Train,” followed by “Shadow,” “Anthem,” and “Save The Robots.” The ensemble returned from set break with a dyslexic version of the some, which found its way to “The Wormhole” > an inverted version of “Crickets” > “The Deal” and finally “I-Man.” They encored with the party anthem “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record).”

Following the special VIP afternoon performance, the evening was ushered in by the girl with the golden bass Rykman. After her grooves and glowing performance, the Disco Biscuits opened the floodgates for their sound–again seamlessly. The night was completely uninterrupted, with “Helicopters” opening before it gave way to “One Chance To Save The World” and an inverted “Twisted in the Road.” Two other inverted versions followed: “And the Ladies Were the Rest of the Night” and “Portal To An Empty Head” before they bookended the set by returning to “Helicopters.”

After a short break, the band opened with another jam before “Spacebirdmatingcall” > “To Be Continued.” Without pause, they moved into “Hot Air Balloon,” which lifted an inverted “Recator” before they returned to “Hot Air Balloon” to close the marathon of a run. For one more treat, to look at the beautiful experience they created and shared with their devoted fans, the Disco Biscuits returned with an encore of “Why We Dance” > an inverted “42” > “Why We Dance.”

The Disco Biscuits will ride the wave of hype they created in Iceland into the summer with performances at SummerCamp Music Festival before riding down the East Coast in June and the West Coast for the first time since ’09 in July. Notably, the West Coast Tour will see the band visit some cities they have not performed in for almost 14 years and others they’ve never visited in their nearly 30 years as a band.
