This morning, Newport Folk Festival shared the latest edition to their 2023 artist lineup. The beloved event will return to Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island from July 28 through 30 and the first day will now include an appearance by My Morning Jacket.
The artist announcement was shared alongside My Morning Jacket’s Artist Give, which will provide grants to the Young Authors Greenhouse, which offers writing programs for young folks from the band’s native Louisville, Ky.
The funds will be used for a songwriting program for 20 middle school students, who will collaborate with established musicians to form a band, write and record original songs and formulate a record followed by a live performance of their work.
In addition to My Morning Jacket’s newly added position on the festival lineup, Newport Folk unveiled that Lana Del Ray will also perform and is billed to take the stage on Sunday, July 30. For her Artist Give, the “Young And Beautiful” singer will support Music On The Inside. Learn more here.
