On Saturday, April 15, The National’s Aaron Dessner joined Taylor Swift for a second surprise sit-in at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. After the two artists came together to perform Swift’s recently cut, “The Great War,” during Friday night’s Tampa set, Dessner returned to the stage for a special rendition of  “mad woman,” off of Swift’s 2020 album folklore.

Prior to Dessner’s sit-in, Swift delivered an expansive solo set; dishing out iconic tracks from every era of her music career. She kicked things off with a handful of songs from her 2019 LP Lover, followed by material from Fearless (2008), evermore (2020), reputation (2017), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), folklore (2020) and 1989 (2014).

Then, Swift invited Dessner–who co-produced the popstar’s three latest albums–to help kick off the night’s highly anticipated mini-set of acoustic tracks. In a heartfelt introduction speech, Swift acknowledged Dessner’s role in her life, not only as a professional collaborator, but as a dear friend. As she took her place next to Dessner on a piano bench, Swift explained that she and Dessner wrote “mad woman” together during a time when she “had a lot to get off her chest.” Under a single spotlight, the musicians dove into the track, with Dessner offering support on keys.

Following the duet, Swift moved into her second suprise track of the night. Armed with an acoustic guitar, Swift busted out 2010’s “Mean” for the first time since 2018. Finally, she polished off the evening with a string of songs from her most recent project, 2022’s Midnights.
