On March 31, ALO stopped by the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Ore., for a continuation of their silver jubilee celebrations. During their stay at the intimate 350-person venue, they were joined by the Rainbow Girls, Scott Law, Sean McLean, and Leon Cotter, along with The String Cheese Incident’s Jason Hann, Bill Nershi, and his wife, Jillian.
ALO, comprised of Zach Gill, Steve Adams, Dan Lebowitz, and Ezra Lipp, started the night off with “Grow Your Hands Back” before moving into “Push” and “Blew Out The Walls.” Rainbow Girls then stepped on stage for two songs, “Cool Winds” and “Staying Alive.” After appreciation between the groups, ALO moved into their 2004 song “Wasting Time” and then “The Rain.”
The band continued with a jam of “Baby Blindspot” > “Lady Loop” – on the latter, they were joined by McLean and Cotter on horns. Next came “Girl I Wanna Lau You Down” and “Las Vegas,” during which Law the Nershis and Hann added their musical skills. Law then stayed on for “Sparrow,” the opening track of their new album, which flowed into the last song of the evening, “Barbeque.”
The ensemble are set to take a short reprieve for the rest of the month and will perform at SunFest in West Palm Beach, Fla., on May 6 next. Learn more and find tickets to their tour here.
