Today, Sound Mind Live announced their fifth annual music festival will commence between Irving Ave and Wyckoff Ave in Bushwick, Brooklyn, on Saturday, May 20. The collective, whose aim is to end the stigma that surrounds mental health through the power of music, has gathered a bountiful group of artists who each has a personal mental health story and are eager to further a platform that allows individuals to empower one another.

The free event will start at noon and showcase performances from Iron & Wine, Langhorne Slim, Hiss Golden Messenger, Kamauu and Pom Pom Squad. Along with the live music, throughout the day, there will be DJ sets and dance parties in partnership with Brooklyn’s House of Yes, as well as Sound Sessions. There will also be holistic mental health programming experiences, including movement and yoga, breathwork and mindfulness sessions and creative activities.

Through the gathering, Sound Mind Live hopes to utilize the unparalleled ability live music holds to connect the hearts, temper community and inspire change. Through artists who are open about their mental health, they hope to extend an open hand to the 45% of issues related to mental health that go unaddressed.

Notably, Sound Mind Live Music Festival has partnered with New York’s Smorgasburg, which will provide unmatched food and drink for the event, which will be livestreamed in partnership with YouTube Health. BetterHelp has also partnered with Sound Mind Live to provide a month of therapy for their combined communities for free.
