Yesterday, Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell stopped by SiriusXM’s Phish Radio to discuss their new album, January, in their own words. Over the course of the discussion, they explore their songwriting process, approach in the studio and the nearly 40 years of musical collaboration and friendship that resulted in the album.

January was released on Friday, March 10, via JEMP Records–exclusively on digital formats– and is comprised of eight original tracks composed by the duo. The project is a follow-up to December, an acoustic reinterpretation of Phish songs by Anastasio and McConnell. It was recorded and produced in January of 2023 at Trout Studios in Brooklyn, N.Y., by Bryce Goggin and features McConnell on keyboards and vocals and Anastasio on guitars, drums, bass and vocals.

Phish Radio will be reairing the conversation throughout the week on SiriusXM’s Ch. 29, on Thursday, March 23 at 9 a.m., Friday, March 24 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, March 25 at 6 p.m. The conversation can also be heard at any time with the S-X-M App by found by searching “January.”
