Phil Lesh and Levon Helm’s children have formed Songs of Our Own. The new project, created by Grahame Lesh and Amy Helm, celebrates The Band and Grateful Dead’s esteemed music, and will debut at Park City, Utah’s The Egyptian Theater, on April 6 through 8.
The second-generation musicians shared the news on social media, confirming their upcoming appearance in the Beehive State. Amy wrote: “Thrilled to share that Grahame Lesh and I, along with a stellar group of musicians and friends, will be heading to The Egyptian Theater.”
She continued, “Songs of Our Own will celebrate the music of our families – the iconic songbooks of the Grateful Dead and The Band. Grahame and I are proud to be creating this touchstone of our musical histories together. Excited to share it with you.”
Grahame shared similar sentiments, expressing his excitement about the project and adding a note about their impending live debut: “We have a pretty ludicrous band to help us rock this! Expect more announcements soon.”
This is not the first time Amy and Grahame have worked together and shared the stage. In 2010, the pair gigged together at Amy’s father’s namesake venue in Woodstock, N.Y., and later shared the stage with Phil Lesh & Friends and Grahame’s Midnight North unit. Moreover, the two collaborated in the Capitol Sun Rays with Allison Russell, Luther Dickinson and others.
Tickets from the pair’s Park City, Utah run are on sale now and can be purchased here.
