On August 5, the 21st annual Jerry Garcia Day will occur in San Francisco. The impending event lands during the Days Between–the stretch of time between the musician’s birthday, August 1, and death date, August 9–and will take place in McLaren Park at the artist’s namesake amphitheater.
Jerry Day is a civic and cultural event celebrating one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time and San Francisco native and founding member of the Grateful Dead. The event aims to unite the diverse communities of the Bay Area through the sound and spirit of Garcia’s music, with a specific emphasis on the Excelsior District of San Francisco, where the musician spent his early years and planted his roots.
In addition to the August 5 celebration, the folks behind the annual event will also host a Garcia Tribute Night which will be presented by the Oakland A’s and Jerry Garcia Family on August 18. Additional information will be available closer to the start date. For more information, visit www.jerryday.org.
