Last night, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds kicked off their three-night all-inclusive concert vacation along the shore at Moon Palace Riviera Maya, just south of Cancún, Mexico. The annual event, now in its sixth year, is known for performances lush with bust-outs, debuts and sit-ins, and the two wasted no time getting things underway.

Matthews and Reynolds began the evening with “Good Good Time” before swinging into the former’s “Trouble.” They continued with “The Best of What’s Around” and “The Stone” which contained an interpolation of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” before performing “Madman’s Eyes” for the first time as a duo. The euphonious songs continued to roll out as they moved through fan favorites like “Satellite” and “Don’t Drink the Water,” the latter of which saw excellent improvisation.

To raise the bar even higher, after “So Damn Lucky,” the two shared the live debut of their new song “Monsters.” Reynolds’ discography was also highlighted throughout the single-set performance, with “Chatterbox” and “Manfood” appearing towards the middle of the show. After more favorites from Dave Matthews Band’s catalog like “#41,” “Black and Blue Bird,” “Lie in Our Graves,” and “When the World Ends,” the two welcomed out one of their esteemed guests joining them over the weekend, Celisse Henderson. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer, and spoken word artist joined them in debuting their cover of Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)” before closing the frame with Bob Dylan’s iconic “All Along the Watchtower.”

For the encore, the duo returned to the stage and dished out Matthews’ “Gravedigger” before closing the evening out with “Cornbread.” Matthews and Reynolds will continue to perform at the Moon Palace Riviera Maya through Feb. 19.
