Last night, Feb. 4, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros continued their run with a stop at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Saturday night performance included a selection of tunes plucked for the Grateful Dead’s fabled songbook, covers and a debut for this unit of musicians, who delivered Jerry Garcia’s “They Love Each Other” during the evening’s first half.

The weekend gig in the Sunshine State kicked off with fan favorite “Jack Straw” before a run-through of “Bombs Away.” The night continued with a take on “Crazy Fingers,” which arrived before a crowd-rousing rendition of “Bertha.” As the first frame continued to unfold, the musicians landed on “Money for Gasoline,” followed by “Mexicali Blues.”

Next, Weir and company inched into their debut, “They Love Each Other.” The arrival of the favored Garcia number was last performed by Weir on March 18, 2017, when he gigged with the David Nelson Band. Then, the previously mentioned song faded into a set-ending take on “Throwing Stones.” After pausing at halftime, the band resumed their show with a classic take on “Me and Bobby McGee,” followed by “Scarlet Begonias” and “Viola Lee Blues.”

The second portion of the night continued to present favored number as the group ran through “Eyes of the World” and Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” which inevitably looped back to “Eyes of the World.” “The Other One” came next, prior to an ensuing take on “Standing on The Moon.” Finally, for the last song of the second set, Weir and his collaborators landed on a fiery “Turn on You Love Light.”

After accepting applause, the group returned to the stage for the encore, “One More Saturday Night.” Having wrapped their time in Florida, Weir and his band will meander up the Eastern Seaboard in anticipation of their upcoming run at Port Chester, N.Y.’s The Capitol Theatre. The group’s next concert will occur on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
