A new electronic duo, Snakes & Stars, comprised of Michael Travis (The String Cheese Incident) and Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls and David Byrne’s American Utopia) have announced their first US tour. They described their union as an opportunity to see “two of live music’s top drummers exploring various idioms of electronic and dance music in a live, improvisational format.”
The band will kick off their tour at the Palace Theater in Albany, N.Y., on Feb 3 before heading west to the Gem & Jam festival in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 4. The group will round out their travels in February with three dates in Colorado starting at the Animas City Theater in Durango, on Feb 24, before performing at the Public House in Crested Butte, Colo., on Feb 25 and hometown show for Travisand at the Shakedown Bar in Vail, Colo. on Feb. 26.
They’ll then pick things back up at the end of March by playing The 8×10 in Baltimore on March 23 and continue along the East Coast with a show at Milkboy in Philadelphia on March 24. Next, they’ll head to New York for two nights with shows at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 25 and Bacchus in New Paltz, N.Y., on March 26.
