Last night, Umphrey’s McGee concluded their two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., where they marked their silver jubilee with accompaniment from Jennifer Hartswick–who had played a pre-show with Brendan Bayliss at the neighboring venue, Garcia’s. The Saturday night gig included a second-ever performance of “Unevolved,” which initially debuted during the band’s 2022 UMBowl at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre. Also included was a round of “Happy Birthday to You” during the evening’s encore.

To start the night, the band emerged and burst into “Bridgeless,” which ran over into a take on “13 Days.” The ensemble landed on “Escape Goat” next, a number that appeared on their recently cut LP, Asking For A Friend. The previously mentioned song led to “White Man’s Moccasins” paired with a set closing take on “Unevolved.”

After a break, Umphrey’s McGee took the fabled stage once more for their second set, which got underway with “Wappy Sprayberry” and “Pure Saturation,” another number that emerged from their 2022 album. “Dear Lord” stretched into “The Other Side of Things” and eventually turned to “Drums,” with Jake Cinninger on percussions. Then, the band delivered “Puppet String” prior to Cinninger’s solo “Jam.”

“Divisions” emerged next and came before Hartswick’s appearance during “Bullhead City.” Hartswick took the lead on vocals during the previously mentioned song, while Bayliss and Cinninger supported her with acoustic instrumentation. Next, “1000 Place to See Before You Die,” and saw their guest pick up her trumpet before the ensemble closed the second set on Queen’s “Under Pressure,” a song they initially debuted with help from Hartswick on June 17, 2022, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo.

Before the band began their encore, the venue’s owner, Peter Shapiro, alongside radio personality Gary Dell’Abate, presented Umphrey’s McGee with a cake and led the crowd through “Happy Birthday to You” to mark their 25th anniversary. Then, the performers ripped into “Den” and returned to the first set opener, “Bridgeless,” to end their time in Port Chester, N.Y.

After the Saturday night display, Umphrey’s McGee will take a few nights off the road before resuming their tour on Thursday, Jan. 26, at Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, Ind. Tickets remain on sale. To learn more, visit the band’s official website
