Prior to the Christmas holiday, on Dec. 17, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed at XL Live in Harrisburg, Pa. During the stacked two-frame gig in Quaker State, the ensemble debuted a cover of “Renaissance (Main Title Theme)” from the popular HBO series The White Lotus, which epically wrapped its second season on Sunday, Dec. 11.
The newly introduced cover landed during the band’s opening set, following selections from their self-written catalog, including “Lightning,” “Moonwalk,” “Paperboy,” and “Elephante.” As the group approached the instrumental number, initially penned by Chilean-Canadian film score composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, they started slowly building momentum.
Clocking in at just over seven minutes, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong rendition of the favored program’s opening number was a myriad of instrumental peaks and valleys. Led by Greg Ormont, the guitarist and vocalist for the ensemble noted that members of the audience, who double as fans of the show, were thrilled by the first-ever cover in a recent interview with Variety.
