Last night, Warren Haynes celebrated the return of his beloved Warren Haynes Presents Christmas Jam charitable show–for the first time since 2018–with a pre-jam kick-off at the Orange Peel in Asheville. The gathering saw many highlights, including opening performances by Pressing Strings, Porter, Sipe and more along with Gov’t Mule with a three-person arrangement.
The ensemble didn’t hold back as they warmed up for today’s Christmas Jam, which can be streamed via Volume.com, playing iconic tunes including “Grinning,” “Mother Earth,” “Blind Man,” “Thorazine” and more. Another highlight during the main set was Rob Barraco sitting in on “Loser,” the seminal “Franklin’s Tower.” Notable sit-ins included stops by Tyler Ramsey, Robert Kearns (a Christmas Jam regular) and George Porter Jr., who was in town for a show of his own, along with an encore with J Mascis featuring the debut of the Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.”
Today along with the main event Asheville will welcome The Christmas Jam By Day–the day-time shows ahead of Warren Haynes Presents: Christmas Jam–with performances spanning three of Asheville’s premier music venues: The Asheville Music Hall, The One Stop at Asheville Music Hall and Jack of the Wood.
Tickets to the Christmas Jam By Day shows are just $20 per day and will be available for purchase at each of the venue’s box offices.
