Today, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams released “Darling Be Home Soon,” the second song from their upcoming album, Live At Levon’s!, due Feb. 3, 2023, via Royal Potato Family. Along with the new offering, the two artists have announced a 13-date tour with Shawn Mullins.

“Darling Be Home Soon” was originally written by John Sebastian and recorded by his band, the Lovin’ Spoonful, for the soundtrack You’re a Big Boy Now, a Francis Ford Coppola film released in 1966. Upon its release, it reached no. 15 on the U.S. pop charts and was performed by Sebastian at the historic Woodstock Music & Art Fair in 1969.

“When I was a kid one of the bands that made a big impact on me was the Lovin’ Spoonful. I was enamored by the material. The songwriting was a bridge between jug band, folk, pop and rock and roll,” shared Larry Campbell in a press release. “I soon found out that John Sebastian was the heart and soul of that band. Years later when I started coming up to Woodstock, NY where John lives, I got to know him and he wound up becoming a great friend. He was a hero when I was kid and I came to find out he was everything I had wanted him to be as a person. His song ‘Darling Be Home Soon’ always particularly fascinated me. Teresa and I started playing it when we were asked to perform at a commemoration of the Woodstock ’69 music festival. We loved doing it so much that it became a permanent part of our repertoire. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to pay tribute to an artist who I consider to be one of our great American songwriters.”

Live At Levon’s! was recorded at Levon Helm Studios in the two’s adopted hometown Woodstock, N.Y. The live performance took place and was recorded on Sept. 20 and 21, 2019, in front of an adoring crowd. It features a selection of previously unreleased new songs and old favorites, including the album’s first release, “Angel Of Darkness.” Pre-order for Live At Levon’s!  here.

The joint tour with Mullins will make stops in the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast, including Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, on March 18, Stoughton Opera House in Madison, Wis. on March 21 and the Miracle Theatre in Washington, D.C. on March 31.
