Over the weekend, LCD Soundsystem kicked off their residency at Brooklyn Steel in New York City. The band announced their extended stand back in September and made their highly anticipated return to the fabled stage on Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19.
Both shows included much of the same material from night to night, as the James Murphy-led ensemble relied on 10 core cuts, including “I Can Change,” “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House,” “Tonite,” “Someone Great,” “Losing My Edge,” “Home,” and the group’s new number, “new body rhumba” from the film White Noise, and more.
Altered by three numbers, the most significant difference between the two shows was Friday’s opener, “Emotional Haircut,” and mid-frame renditions of “On Repeat” and “Tribulations.” Compared to Saturday’s stand, which began with “Time to Get Away,” from 2007’s Sound of Silver, in addition to “Thrills” and “Other Voices,” which also landed during the midway point of Saturday’s gig.
Friday’s encore began with “Get Innocuous!” compared to Saturday’s bonus frame, which kicked off with “Oh Baby.” However, the three numbers which followed remained the same both nights and consisted of “New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down,” followed by “Dance Yrself Clean,” and the last number of the night, “All My Friends.”
After this weekend’s gigs, LCD Soundsystem will resume their residency tonight, Monday, Nov. 21. The band will also retake the stage tomorrow; for those interested in attending one of the band’s upcoming performances at Brooklyn Steel, tickets remain on sale and can be purchased here.
