moe. has announced they’ve once again partnered with The American Cancer Society for its “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign in recognition and support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign’s aim is designed to engage more male community leaders, public figures and influencers in The American Cancer Society’s mission to eliminate breast cancer.
The band – comprised of Al Schnier (guitar, vocals), Chuck Garvey (guitar, vocals), Rob Derhak (bass, vocals), Jim Loughlin (percussion) and Vinnie Amico (drums) – will be selling limited edition pink merchandise in their online store and offer fans opportunities to donate for experiences at various levels ranging from a round of golf with Loughlin to a custom song written by Schnier. High-level donors will also have the chance to join the band for the day, which includes hanging with members during soundcheck, collaborating on the setlist and sitting in during a show.
“Cancer impacts all of us – friends, family, co-workers, neighbors – all of us,” Schnier said in a press release. “Being married to someone who works directly for ACS has only made me more acutely aware of just how important the fundraising is – not only directly helping those battling cancer but also in funding the research to make it treatable and not fatal.”
All proceeds will be donated to The American Cancer Society, and a donation of any amount enters fans for a chance to win tickets to Summer Camp festival in 2023. Learn more and see donation options here.
Derhak fought cancer in 2017 and shared the importance of the cause. “I was fortunate to have a huge team of people rooting for me and giving me support,” Derhak recalled. “The American Cancer Society offered help with so many avenues that I didn’t know existed which made me realize how important the organization is. They offer support for people who may not have that team in their corner.”
During the month moe. along with other community leaders, will wear pink, plan events and use their personal social media platforms to help raise awareness and funds for The American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives – this year marks the 30th anniversary since they began their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign, which will find 150 communities nationwide supporting The American Cancer Society through 3 to 5 mile non-competitive walks.
“We are grateful to moe. and their community for making an impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families,” said Barb Romeu, Director of The American Cancer Society. “We are proud to partner with them to ensure everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.”
moe. are currently preparing for a three-night run at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colo., on Nov. 4-6. During the performances, Michael “Suke” Cerulo from Schleigho will sub in for Garvey, who suffered a stroke last year. They’ll also be joined by keyboardist Nate Wilson from Percy Hill and Assembly of Dust. Find tickets to the event and learn more here.
