Celebrated drummer Joe Russo has announced that he’ll be joining the house band on Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight. The percussionist, known for his work in the Grateful Dead cover band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, has performed on the late-night TV favorite before with sit-ins with the 8G Band this past June.

For tonight’s performance, Russo will be joining the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn for a musical segment. It’s also notable that earlier today, Finn announced that he decided to cancel all the upcoming dates for Craig Finn & The Uptown Controllers due to a positive case of COVID-19 within the band.

“We don’t feel that making quick and hectic adjustments to the band lineup will allow us to bring the show we want to play for you, so we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this portion of the tour,” Finn shared on Instagram. “These are immensely trying times for touring musicians, and we hope you understand.”

In his message, Finn added despite the bump in the road, they will fulfill their plans to perform on Late Night with Seth Meyers. See Finn’s statement and preview from Russo below.
