In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a star-studded group of artists have come together on Good Music To Save Abortion Access For All, a fundraiser compilation for nonprofit organizations that help provide safe abortion access. The record will be released on Friday, Oct. 7 for 24 hours exclusively on Bandcamp, as part of the platform’s Bandcamp Fridays program, where the site abdicates its share of sales for the day.

The Good Music compilation boasts an extensive list of artists, including the husband and wife duo Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell, Bob Weir and Wolf Bros, Pearl Jam, David Byrne, R.E.M., My Morning Jacket and many more musicians. Furthermore, the cover art was designed by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. All proceeds from the album will be donated to Brigid Alliance, Abortion Care Network and Noise For Now.

In sharing the news of the album’s release, many artists added their own personal statements via social media. “This is such an important cause, especially with all that has happened recently, so let’s raise some funds,” Soccer Mommy wrote in an Instagram post. “Every person faced with the choice to keep a pregnancy or not should have access to a safe and legal abortion should they choose one,” Tegan and Sara stated. Concluding, “Their body, their choice.”

This compilation is the latest from the Good Music organizers, which is run by Dave Eggers and Jordan Kurland. In 2020, they released Good Music To Avert The Collapse of American Democracy, which raised over $600,000 for voters’ rights nonprofit Fair Fight
