On Oct. 1, The Killers brought their Imploding the Mirage tour to New York’s Madison Square Garden. After Friday’s kick-off at the legendary venue, the group returned to the stage on Saturday night to deliver a full 18-song main set beaming with numbers from across their impressive repertoire. For the evening’s encore, the ensemble welcomed rock royalty, Bruce Springsteen, to assist with a selection of songs, including his originals “Badlands” and “Born to Run,” which marked debuts for the Las Vegas band.

The ensemble’s main set was a mix of originals from across their massive discography, starting with the tour’s namesake, 2020’s Imploding the Mirage, on “My Own Soul’s Warning.” Then, they moved to their second studio album with “Enterlude,” followed by the rock staple “Mr. Brightside.” The set continued to roll out numbers as the band visited tracks from Battle Born, Wonderful Wonderful and Day & Age, among others.

Toward the end of the set, The Killers returned to their Sam’s Town album with “Read My Mind,” which included an interlude of Bill Withers’ classic number, “Lean On Me.” Before long, the band delivered newer material on “Dying Breed” before running through “Caution” with a “Rut” intro. The main set ended with two fan favorites when the ensemble worked in “All These Things That I’ve Done” before capping the frame with “When You Were Young.”

A high point of the concert occurred next when The Killers brought out Springsteen and his E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons to assist on The Boss’ original track, “Badlands,” off 1978’s Darkness on the Edge of Town. The group followed with a return to the billed band’s original material on “A Dustland Fairytale.” Then, for the last number of the night, The Killers, Springsteen and Clemons landed on the classic 1975 tune, “Born to Run,” to conclude their night in The Big Apple.

After last night’s show, The Killers will return to the stage on Monday, Oct. 3, at TD Garden in Boston, before jumping over to University Park, Pa., on Tuesday night. For tickets to The Killers’ forthcoming concerts, visit their website for availability and purchase options.
