41 years after the release of their timeless hip-shaker “Genius of Love,” the Tom Tom Club have returned to share an updated take on the fan favorite. The new tune, fittingly dubbed “Space Shoes of Love,” features catchy lyrical additions by Brooklyn, N.Y.-based rapper, Megadon, dubbed over the ever-recognizable bassline synonymous with the boisterous party staple. 

After a chance encounter with the Tom Tom Club’s Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, Megadon was invited by the duo to add new lyrics to the original tune for an updated take on the seminal classic. “Space Shoes of Love” was thoughtfully remixed by Kid Ginseng, who maintained the originality of the 1981 upbeat reverb while also allowing space for modern rhapsody. 

Tom Tom Club also offered a comment on the new track. They stated: “Chris and Tina love what Megadon has created with ‘Space Shoes of Love.’ It’s Genius!” The ensemble’s new track is available to stream by following this link.
