Union Pool, the iconic Brooklyn bar and music venue, has announced it will reopen tomorrow, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. E.T. Along with its reopening, the bar has announced its Summer Thunder 2022 lineup featuring The Sun Ra Arkestra, Fred Thomas of the James Brown Band and more.

After a 5-alarm fire erupted next to the venue in early July, Union Pool was forced to close for four weeks while repairs and renovations were made. After a series of fundraisers and a battle against city regulations, Union Pool had planned to reopen on Aug. 15 but has since upped it to Aug. 5.

As previously stated, Union Pool will celebrate its relaunch with a series of music performances featuring both local and traveling acts. Thomas of the James Brown Band is set to play on Aug. 14. On Aug. 21, krautrock pioneer Malcolm Mooney of Can and the Sawyer, Gunn, and Ismailly Trio will perform at the venue. The Sun Ra Arkestra will be featured on Aug. 28, followed by Joe Bataan on Sept. 3 and punk-rockers Sheer Mag on Sept. 4.

Union Pool has also released its calendar of live acts, which features Vetiver, Willow Avalon, Reverend Vince Anderson & The Love Choir, TVO and more. Visit their website for additional information, including their free Tuesday concert series.
