Jimmy Hall has announced a new album, Ready Now, due on Sept. 16 via Bonamassa’s Keeping the Blues Alive Records. The forthcoming release is Hall’s first new solo album of original material since 2007. Along with today’s album announcement, the artist has shared the first single, “Jumpin’ For Joy,” and its official music video.

Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith produced Ready Now and appeared on the LP along with Hall, keyboardist Reese Wynans, bassist Michael Rhodes, and drummer Greg Morrow. In addition, the 11-track includes special guest performances by esteemed guitarists Warren Haynes and Jared James Nichols. On the title track, Haynes performs an impeccable slide guitar solo, while on “Without Your Love,” Nichols also receives some independent time in which he inserts his unaccompanied instrumentals.

In a press release shared by the artist’s public relations team, they boasted, “Packed with unforgettable, amazing songs and performances, his new album, Ready Now, is a major statement in a career full of highs dating back to Jimmy’s work with the legendary Southern Rock band Wet Willie. Jimmy’s singing, harp playing, and writing have never been stronger or more laser-focused on making a definitive career-defining album.”

Hall gained prestige on the live music scene as the lead vocalist, saxophonist, and harmonica player for the band Wet Willie, which began in Mobile, Ala., in the early ’70s. The musician brought his unique blend of R&B sensibility to the Southern Rock genre, specifically on the band’s U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Chart topper, “Keep on Smiling,” which reached no. 10 in August 1974. Since then, Hall has carried out a successful solo career, and his forthcoming album captures those years of experience and refinement of his craft to aplomb.
