Last night, Trey Anastasio Band descended upon the main stage at The Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pa. The Phish frontman delivered a 14-song set paired with a single song encore. During the latter half of the main set, Anastasio welcomed Celisse to the stage for three tunes. Watch a fan-shot video of the ensemble performing “The Moma Dance” with their guest below.
Saturday night’s display got underway with a stretched “Blaze On” followed by a jammed-out take on “Sand,” a track that was featured on Phish’s seminal 2000 album, Farmhouse. Next, the ensemble moved into Anastasio’s solo repertoire on “Mozambique” before a full-on launch into “Set Your Soul Free.”
“Olivia” arrived right before revisiting the Phish catalog on “Everything’s Right,” which included an instrumental build that elated the packed crowd. Anastasio and his band jumped into 2020’s Lonely Trip next, landing on “…And Flew Away” before returning to Farmhouse once more on the groove-laden “Gotta Jibboo.” For their next tune, the ensemble ripped into “Ghost,” which appeared on the 1998 studio album, The Story of the Ghost.
The only song off Anastasio’s most recent solo offering, 2022’s mercy, arrived next when the ensemble landed on “roll like a river,” performed for only the third time live. Then, as the show continued, they returned to Plasma on “Simple Twist Up Dave,” a song that Trey Anastasio Band initially debuted on their stealth 2001 summer tour during a stop at High Ground in Winooski, Vt.
Next, a special moment occurred when Anastasio welcomed Celisse to the stage for a sit-in. Before the live collaboration, Celisse performed on the main stage during the afternoon, where she shared a story about her 2019 performance at The Peach Music Festival when Anastasio joined her for a handful of tracks. The story alluded to the sit-in and ignited conversation and curiosity among festival-goers prior to Anastasio’s set.
“The Moma Dance” opened up the on stage collaboration, which saw notable vocal contributions from James Casey, Natalie Cressman and Jennifer Hartswick. At the same time, Anastasio held down the lead, and Celisse added her signature styling to The Story of the Ghost track. Celisse added to the 2019 LP, making its tunes welcomed additions to the festival setlist. Keeping with the theme, they pulled another number off the same album, only this time, they performed “A Life Beyond the Dream” before capping the set with a hot take on “Rise/Come Together.” For their encore, the band delivered “Carini.”
After last night’s performance, Anastasio will resume Phish’s summer tour beginning on July 14 with a two-night stand at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
