The non-profit organization HeadCount which works with musicians to promote participation in democracy in the United States, has unveiled a new set of customized D’Angelico guitars that will be auctioned for charity over the course of Dead & Company’s annual Summer Tour. The money raised from the sale of the guitars will go to Dead Family Charities which are selected by the band

The guitars feature commemorative and beautiful one-of-a-kind art by one of today’s most prominent figures in the rock art industry, AJ Masthay. The art featured in HeadCount’s collection comes from Masthay’s Ripple series of original works along with another titled Seasons which was featured at the “Neither Here Nor There” solo exhibition at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco in May of 2019. Limited Edition prints for the series sold out immediately.

Masthay’s exquisite work on the guitars is featured on their pickguards and directly on the body of the guitars. A D’Angelico Premier SS in Ocean Turquoise color will commemorate the entire tour and others will be in honor of specific two-night stops on the tour including San Francisco, Chicago, New York City and Boulder, Colo. The city-specific guitars are limited-edition customs made exclusively for HeadCount and have “VOTE” featured on the fretboard, HeadCount’s logo on the headstock and an American Flag overlay. Masthay’s art will also appear on REMO Drumheads that will also be up for auction.

Bids for the guitars will be accepted throughout the tour, in the Participation Row activism village and the Loose Lucy’s VIP lounge. Remote bids can also be accepted.
