Last night, Greensky Bluegrass kicked off their festival Camp Greensky at the Shagbark Farm in Caledonia, Mich. The set was wildly lush with energetic bluegrass and special guest appearances from Linsay Lou, Joshua Davis and Benny “Burle” Galloway.

Greensky Bluegrass opened the first set at Camp Greensky with a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” which marked the second cover they’ve played in quite some time following their take on The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life” at BottleRock Festival last weekend. They followed the Black Sabbath classic with “Absence Of Reason” off their recently released album Stress Dreams, which was followed by fan favorites “I’d Probably Kill You” and “All Four.”

Next, Lou, Camp Greensky’s artist-at-large joined Greensky Bluegrass on vocals for “In Control” and “Beauty And Pain.” From there Greensky Bluegrass moved into “Beauty and Pain,” before Davis hopped onstage for the debut of “Congratulations And Condolences” and a suburb “Butcher’s Girl.” Greensky Bluegrass closed their first set sans guests with “Courage For The Road.”

For the second set, Greensky Bluegrass tapped back into Stress Dreams with “New & Improved.” They then moved from “Just to Lie” into “Run Or Die.” Next, came a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freight Liner Blues” before welcoming up the final special guest of the evening, Galloway. Galloway ushered Greensky Bluegrass through a couple of his songs: “To Say Goodbye, To Be Forgiven” and “What’s Left Of The Night.” The ensemble closed the set with the title track of Stress Dreams and “Living Order.”

Greensky Bluegrass encored with “Better Off” with Lou back onstage handling vocals, to fan’s elation. Camp Greensky continues today with sets from Luke Winslow King, Wayword Sons, Peter Rowan, Sammy Rae & The Friends, Dave Bruzza and of course Greensky Bluegrass.
