Drive-By Truckers have shared the latest track, “Every Single Storied Flameout,” off their 14th studio album, Welcome 2 Club XIII, due out on June 3 via ATO Records. 

The vivacious horn-focused tune draws from the perspective of founding member Mike Cooley. The Drive-By Truckers’ guitarist and founding member reflects on his younger years and, in turn, bestows gained wisdom forged from lived experience to his teenage son lyrically. 

Cooley shared, “I wrote that song when my son was turning 16 and going through a rough patch for a bit.” He continued, “Luckily, he’s turned it all around and he’s doing great now, but it was a tough time for a while. Part of my way of dealing with it was to take ownership of the example I might’ve set, in the hope of leading him out of it.” 

Today’s news follows the mid-April announcement that Drive-By Truckers will release their forthcoming album, Welcome 2 Club XIII, in early June. Read the full story here.
