Today, Multi-platinum recording artist Jack Johnson announced the release of a new studio album entitled Meet The Moonlight, which will release on June 24 via Brushfire Records/Republic Records. Along with the announcement Johnson released the lead single “One Step Ahead” with an accompanying music video.

This latest offering marks Johnson’s eighth studio album and first full-length release in five years. The project was produced by Black Mills known for his work with Jim James, Perfume Genius and Alabama Shakes, and recorded at Sound City and EastWest in Los Angeles as well as Johnson’s Studio in Hawaii The Mango Tree.

“When Blake and I first got in touch we’d send each other playlists, and over time we realized we were drawn to music that sounds effortless despite all the effort put into making it,” said Johnson in a press release. “After a while we got a language together and I gained a trust in him that allowed me to let go, push outside my comfort zone, and get to a sound I really loved.”

On Earth Day, Johnson is set to perform on Kōkua Learning Farm located in the heart of Haleʻiwa, Hawaii. The farm is the latest effort by Johnson’s Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation which aims to establish agricultural, educational, and retail activities to promote local food, waste reduction and environmental stewardship.

Additionally, Johnson is set to embark on a 35-date tour this summer kicking off on June 21 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, N.H. and concluding at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif. on Oct. 7. Special guests include Lake Street Dive, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Ziggy Marley and more.
