On April 1, the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed a surprise show at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. The concert marked their first live appearance since 2019 and included a sit-in by George Clinton during the band’s encore performance of “Give It Away.” The cast of characters are currently promoting their 12th studio album, Unlimited Love

The 12 song single-set performance began with a new song off the band’s forthcoming LP, “These Are the Ways,” and followed up with the classic, “Snow (Hey Oh).” Then, Red Hot Chili Peppers debuted “Here Ever After” and continued with another fan favorite, “Suck My Kiss.”

Anthony Kiedis led the band through another live debut, “Aquatic Mouth Dance,” and carried on with “Hey,” off 2006’s Stadium Arcadium. The fun continued with “Can’t Stop” and then followed with a cover of Elton John’s “Your Song,” performed solo by John Frusciante.

Next, the band made their third live debut, “Not the One,” and continued with another tune off Unlimited Love, “Black Summer.” For their last song of the set, Red Hot Chili Peppers played the title track off 2002’s By the Way. George Clinton, who produced the band’s 1985 sophomore effort, Freaky Styley, then sat in for an electric take on “Give It Away.”
