The Salt Shed, Chicago’s newest venue, will open its doors with a series of outdoor summer shows starting on Aug. 3, 2022.

The repurposed 4.24-acre location once served as the city’s historic Morton Salt complex and features a truss-roof, brick structure and steel frame and is considered an excellent example of utilitarian, early 20th-century industrial architecture. Since shuttering its doors in 2015, the building has undergone a $50 million renovation by Blue Star properties, according to the Chicago Department of Planning and Development. The renovation also included the revitalizing of the building’s historic “Morton salt girl” roof logo.

The Salt Shed’s summer shows will kick off by welcoming the Fleet Foxes on Aug. 3, Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen and Julien Baker on Aug. 10, Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine on Aug. 12, Lake Street Dive on Aug. 13, Lord Huron on Aug. 15, Mt. Joy on Aug. 20, Jorja Smith on Aug. 25 and Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit on Sept. 23.

The renovations on the building will continue throughout the year, and indoor concerts are not set to occur until 2023. However, pop-up markets, food events, art galleries, bars and cultural events are all on the horizon.

Tickets for the summer shows will go on sale on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. CT. Find tickets and more information here.
